Sydney's warm, humid climate is ideal for cockroaches. The two species we see most are the small German cockroach, which lives indoors around kitchens and appliances, and the larger American cockroach, which often comes in from drains, sub-floors and gardens.
Why they are hard to get rid of
A single German cockroach female can produce hundreds of offspring in a year, and they hide in tiny cracks behind fridges, dishwashers, cupboard hinges and electrical appliances. Surface sprays from the supermarket often scatter them instead of solving the problem.
Prevention tips
- Wipe benches and sweep floors each night.
- Do not leave dishes or pet food out overnight.
- Fix leaking taps and keep sinks dry.
- Seal cracks around pipes and cabinets.
Professional cockroach control
We use targeted gel baits placed where cockroaches feed and hide, combined with dusting of wall voids and sub-floors and residual treatments where appropriate. This approach reaches the whole population, including nymphs, and is safer for kitchens and family areas.
